Bearing Cyprus Ship Suppliers commenced business in June 1981 when Mr. Andronicos Groutides, Chairman, established A&P Bearings Ltd. The main activity of the company was the supply of tools, bolds, paints, for commercial use as well as other hardware.
Mr. Groutides' vision was to create an organization that would set the paradigm for its professionalism and service. This philosophy was soon recognized by all the major industries in Cyprus and a close cooperation for bulk supplies of products emerged.
As early as 1982, the company expanded its activity into wholesale trade supplying specialised retail outlets and other professionals in every corner of the free parts of the Republic of Cyprus.
In 1987, Bearing commenced operations in the Marine Industry supplying various associates with specialised Marine hardware and tools.
By 1988, the rapid growth and expansion of the company, stemming from its competitive pricing and professional level of service found the company operating from new and bigger stores to accommodate for the increased volume of business. At this time the company entered into the supply of foodstuffs, drinks and other consumables to cater for the demand of Marine associates.
In 1992, the first International operation takes place upon a successful agreement with a company in Towage & Salvage. This relationship exists till today and has grown even stronger since then.
In 1993, another Multinational and High Tech operator assigned Bearing Ship Suppliers as their ship supplier for food, parts and even full scale reconditioning of its vessels.
A year later, in 1994, American companies operating in the greater Mediterranean region and once more Bearing delivered to its reputation by supplying a highly specialized equipment, by locating the supplier in one country, arranging delivery and customization in another country and delivery within very tight schedule on board one of the vessels of the coast of Egypt.
The fame and high level of professionalism, speed of delivery, high level of specialization, range of product offering and competitive pricing all part of customer focused approach and philosophy drove more high tech American firms contracted on the greater region to appoint Bearing as their exclusive ship supplier for all their marine needs.
As of 1996 more high technology firms operating in the region commenced co-operation with Bearing for provisions and also very exclusive and high tech hardware and supplies.
The growth continued and more and more International companies turned to Bearing for supplies from provisions to certified Marine tools and highly technical and difficult to source equipment.
In 2004, Mr. Michael Groutides joins the company as the General Manager bringing with him contemporary ideas and a vision to continue the philosophy of his father and advance the company into the challenges of the 22nd century. Mr. Andronicos Groutides, becomes Chairman of the Board.
By 2005, various Commercial vessel as well as tuna fishing companies commenced business co-operation with Bearing. The activities involve provisioning of foodstuffs, drinks, spares, harware and equipment, supply of oil and other highly specialised and time constraint operations.
The success and growth of the company continuous as in 2006 Naval forces stationed in the port of Limassol, appointed Bearing as their exclusive ship supplier.
